Tata confirms Tiago EV to launch in India soon, tipped to be one of India’s cheapest EVs

This time around, the Indian automaker will target the more affordable EV segment and will launch the Tata Tiago EV hatchback in the country. The new Tata Tiago EV hatchback will be launched in India in the coming months and will be the entry point to Tata's EV lineup in India, and could also one of the most affordable EVs in the country.
Tata currently sells the Xpres-T EV, the Tata Tigor EV, the Tata Nexon EV Prime and the Tata Nexon EV MAX in India. The EV hatchback is expected to reduce the cost of entry into the lineup and could amass huge potential in the mass market EV segment. Tata launched the Xpres-T EV in India in July 2021 at Rs 9.75 lakh, which is currently their cheapest EV in India.
Tata Motors to soon launch the Tata Tiago EV in India
The Tata Tiago EV, based on the Tata Tiago ICE-powered hatchback, was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Indian automaker has now announced that it could soon launch the product in India. 

The Tata Tiago EV would use similar components as used in the Tata X-Press T EV and the Tata Tigor EV. The X-Press T EV uses a low-powered motor and is available for fleets only. The Tata Tigor EV, based on the Ziptron architecture, uses a higher power motor and bigger battery and is available for private buyers. 

To keep prices as low as possible, Tata Motors could deploy the 41bhp electric motor that is available on the Tata X-Press T EV. It is paired with a 16.5kWh battery pack that gets 165km of claimed range and a 21.5kWh option and is good for 213km of the claimed range.
